The Office for the Promotion of Small Business helps to generate new businesses and cooperatives, as well as assisting those already up and running.

Assistance is provided through the 1997 Italian Law 266, which aims to contribute to the development of urban areas, through the “Prestito d’Onore” loan for opening small businesses, as well as other forms of assistance to small businesses.

To date, small businesses (either individually or in associations/cooperatives, both new and existing) have benefited from these schemes.

At the same time, new services have been set up to assist in the creation of new businesses. One such service is a multimedia centre in Cinecittà. A second centre, for non-profit employment in Garbatella, has also been set up, and a third, for small business in Corviale.
